In the absence of courageous men, no one should underestimate how far into hell a country can fall, no matter how great it may have been in the past. In a pragmatic sense, it is often impractical for all voters to be responsibly informed on every race they are eligible to vote in, so the unfortunate truth is that in some cases voters have to resort to heuristics like party affiliation and identity.
